Thursday Keynote: Muriel Summers -

Keynote Speaker SummersAs principal of A.B. Combs Leadership Magnet Elementary School in North Carolina, Muriel Summers and her staff created the first leadership elementary school in the nation using Franklin Covey’s 7 Habits program as a foundation. With 33 years of education experience, Muriel speaks to audiences concerning educational transformation. Muriel’s school has been featured on PBS, Good Morning America, and The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Friday Keynote: Dr. Steve Constantino -

Keynote SpeakerAuthor of Engage Every Family: Five Simple Principles, Dr. Constantino uses his unique gifts of storytelling and humor to weave a compelling argument for all educators to embrace the notion that families are the first and foremost influential teachers of their children and harnessing that power results in tremendous gains in student learning outcomes. Starting as a teacher, Steve now serves as the Superintendent of Schools in Williamsburg, Virginia. He has spoken to thousands of teachers, administrators, and school board members across the U.S., Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.

EPIC Elementary School - EPIC, a Birmingham City school, has a unique blend of 25% special needs students. They are a new Leader in Me school, have extensive use of community volunteers and an active gardening program.

Oak Mountain Elementary - Participants will visit Oak Mountain Elementary, a Leader in Me School since 2015. Visitors will learn how our journey began, visit classrooms to meet with students who will share their Leadership Notebooks containing academic and behavioral goals, see the Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast and
tour the school.

Oak Mountain High School - OMHS Instructional Rounds Team, comprised of teacher leaders, will be participating in their third Instructional Rounds of the school year. Visitors will be able to join a group as they observe classes and will be able to converse with our Instructional Rounds team about the benefits of the process.

Simmons Middle School - Simmons Middle School, a Hoover City School, has approximately 800 students and has a special emphasis on instructional technology and differentiated instruction. Students are taught in a
departmentalized environment and all students are assigned to a team of teachers.
